This
is a brand new section which technically falls outside of communications
planning. It is is the creation and marketing of products as carried out
by client companies. They make products and services which people buy. The
other areas are where agency suppliers make a contribution by creating content
which makes brand promises, add value to audiences or deliver branded experiences.
They may even create content which the audience pays for however they don't
themselves make the products and services for which people pay. They create
desire and demand. Since the site is devoted to expanding the scope of communications
planning then it seems right to include it. There are planners who work clientside,
and who work in NPD - they therefore do work directly on the product side
as opposed to the marcoms side.
